We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join our team in San Antonio, Texas, on a contract with the potential for a permanent position. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and supporting various aspects of the organization's financial operations. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to month-end and year-end processes, collaborate with different departments, and enhance workflow efficiency.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Prepare and record journal entries to ensure accurate financial data management.<br>• Allocate costs for insurance premiums, including health and property coverage, on a monthly basis.<br>• Process payroll journal entries and reconcile bank accounts regularly.<br>• Perform monthly reconciliation of assigned accounts and manage prepaid expense accounts.<br>• Import and reconcile donor contributions into the financial system to maintain accurate records.<br>• Maintain and update the fixed asset module, including asset additions, disposals, depreciation schedules, and construction-in-progress reconciliation.<br>• Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing accrual journal entries when required.<br>• Support audit processes by providing necessary documentation and responding to auditor requests.<br>• Collaborate with the Controller to implement internal controls and contribute to special projects and process improvements.<br>• Serve as backup for Accounts Payable and Purchasing functions when needed.
