A local non-profit organization is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented <strong>Controller</strong> to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a vital mission while ensuring the stability and sustainability of the organization’s financial operations.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Position Summary</strong></p><p>The Controller will oversee all accounting operations, focusing on daily financial activities, general ledger management, revenue recognition, payroll administration, and maintaining accurate and timely financial records. A key responsibility will include managing the month-end and year-end closing processes, preparing for the organization’s annual financial audit and 990 filings, and supporting the Senior Director of Finance in creating monthly financial reports for leadership. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting practices, attention to detail, and a commitment to supporting the mission-driven work of the organization.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Manage and oversee daily accounting activities, including revenue recognition, reconciliations, payroll processing, and general ledger management.</li><li>Supervise month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.</li><li>Prepare for annual financial audits and assist with Form 990 filings in compliance with applicable regulations.</li><li>Collaborate with the Senior Director of Finance to develop monthly financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.</li><li>Ensure internal controls and compliance with relevant financial standards and practices.</li><li>Maintain and improve processes to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of daily financial operations.</li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred—or equivalent professional experience.</li><li>6-8 years of relevant professional accounting experience.</li><li>Prior experience in non-profit accounting is highly preferred (1-3 years).</li><li>Strong knowledge of accounting principles, GAAP, and internal controls.</li><li>Proficiency with accounting software and Excel; experience with fund accounting systems is a plus.</li><li>Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.</li><li>Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.</li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with finance staff, leadership, and external partners.</li></ul><p>Our client offers a hybrid-work schedule once trained, as well as a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, retirement plan contributions, and generous paid time off.
