Controller
<p>We are looking for an experienced Controller to support financial operations for a Contract position in Westborough, Massachusetts. This opportunity requires a hands-on leader who can guide accounting activities while maintaining accurate and timely reporting. The ideal candidate will bring strong oversight across reconciliations, close activities, and financial controls while providing direction to a small accounting team.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p>• Direct day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring financial transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with established procedures.</p><p>• Lead the monthly closing process in partnership with the accounting team and confirm that reporting deadlines are met.</p><p>• Prepare and deliver financial reports to ownership, highlighting key results and supporting informed business decisions.</p><p>• Supervise and mentor two staff accountants, setting priorities and promoting efficient workflow across the department.</p><p>• Review balance sheet activity and complete detailed reconciliations for bank accounts and other key accounts.</p><p>• Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable activities, including monitoring account status and addressing issues that require follow-up.</p><p>• Manage customer-related financial records with a focus on accuracy, completeness, and timely resolution of inquiries.</p><p>• Support audit readiness and contribute to budgeting activities by organizing financial data and validating underlying records.</p><p>• Use accounting systems, including Great Plains, to maintain reliable financial information and support daily accounting processes.</p><p>• Provide leadership coverage and decision-making support when the primary controller is unavailable.</p>
• Proven experience in a Controller or senior-level accounting leadership role.<br>• Strong knowledge of core accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger oversight.<br>• Hands-on experience with balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and trial balance review.<br>• Familiarity with auditing practices and budget preparation or budget oversight.<br>• Ability to produce accurate financial reports and manage month-end close activities effectively.<br>• Experience leading or supervising accounting staff in a deadline-driven environment.<br>• Proficiency with accounting software, including Great Plains or comparable financial systems.
