Controller
<p>Our client in the construction industry is seeking a <strong>hands-on, experienced Controller</strong> to lead the accounting and finance function. This is a great opportunity for a strong accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, operationally driven environment and can balance strategic oversight with day-to-day execution.</p><p>The ideal candidate will have a proven background in accounting leadership, strong technical skills, and the ability to roll up their sleeves and manage the details while supporting broader business objectives. <strong>Construction industry experience is a requirement, and experience with Sage Intacct is highly preferred.</strong></p><p>Key Responsibilities:</p><ul><li>Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end close</li><li>Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements</li><li>Manage cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis</li><li>Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures</li><li>Lead the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting</li><li>Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial partners</li><li>Monitor job costing, revenue recognition, and project financial performance</li><li>Support operational leaders with financial reporting and insight to drive business decisions</li><li>Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies</li><li>Evaluate and improve accounting systems, processes, and reporting capabilities</li><li>Assist with strategic planning and provide financial guidance to leadership</li></ul><p>Qualifications:</p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required</li><li>CPA or CMA preferred</li><li>7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including prior leadership responsibility</li><li>Previous experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller preferred</li><li><strong>Construction industry experience</strong></li><li>Strong understanding of financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and internal controls</li><li>Experience with job costing, percentage-of-completion accounting, and project-based financial reporting is highly valued</li><li>Sage Intacct experience is highly preferred</li><li>Advanced Excel skills and strong overall systems proficiency required</li><li>Ability to work independently, take ownership, and operate in a hands-on capacity</li><li>Strong communication skills with the ability to partner across departments and with executive leadership</li></ul><p>Preferred Attributes:</p><ul><li>Hands-on leadership style with a willingness to dig into the details</li><li>Strong problem-solving and process improvement mindset</li><li>Ability to thrive in a growing, changing environment</li><li>Detail-oriented, organized, and deadline-driven</li><li>Strong business acumen and a proactive approach to supporting operations</li></ul><p>This role is ideal for a finance leader who wants to make an impact, build structure, and serve as a key business partner within a dynamic organization.</p>
• Experience working in a Controller or senior-level accounting capacity.<br>• Strong knowledge of month-end close procedures and financial reconciliation practices.<br>• Familiarity with sales and use tax processes and related documentation requirements.<br>• Hands-on experience with document control, records organization, and document scanning.<br>• High level of accuracy when compiling, reviewing, and maintaining business records.<br>• Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a structured environment.<br>• Proficiency with standard accounting systems and digital document management tools.
