Enterprise Data Architect
<p>Robert Half&#39;s client in Surprise, Arizona is seeking an Enterprise/Lead Data Architect. This will be an onsite, long term contract position in Surprise, Arizona. </p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><p><strong>Discovery &amp; Current-State Assessment</strong></p><ul><li>Lead comprehensive discovery of the current data environment, including systems, data flows, and storage platforms</li><li>Assess existing architecture (data warehouses, lakes, operational systems, cloud/on-prem)</li><li>Identify gaps, inefficiencies, redundancies, and data silos</li><li>Evaluate current data quality, accessibility, and scalability</li></ul><p><strong>Future-State Architecture &amp; Strategy</strong></p><ul><li>Define and design a <strong>long-term (5–10 year) data architecture roadmap</strong> aligned to business growth</li><li>Provide recommendations on <strong>where data should reside</strong> (data lake, warehouse, cloud platforms, etc.)</li><li>Design scalable, high-performance data solutions to support enterprise reporting, analytics, and future AI/ML initiatives</li><li>Advise on total data volume growth and infrastructure planning (<strong>full-scale/data capacity planning</strong>)</li></ul><p><strong>System Mapping &amp; Data Flow</strong></p><ul><li>Map data flows across critical systems (ERP, CRM, HRIS, and other business applications)</li><li>Develop enterprise data models and architecture diagrams</li><li>Identify and eliminate data silos while improving system interoperability</li></ul><p><strong>Data Governance &amp; Compliance</strong></p><ul><li>Establish and implement <strong>data governance frameworks</strong>, standards, and best practices</li><li>Define data ownership, stewardship, and lifecycle management processes</li><li>Ensure compliance with <strong>HIPAA, PCI, and other regulatory requirements</strong></li><li>Develop data classification, security, and access control models</li></ul><p><strong>Integration Strategy</strong></p><ul><li>Evaluate and redesign integration architecture (ETL, APIs, middleware)</li><li>Recommend tools and frameworks for modern data integration (real-time, batch, hybrid)</li><li>Optimize data movement across systems to improve performance and reliability</li><li>Advise on future-state integration patterns (API-first, event-driven, microservices)</li></ul><p><br></p>
<p><strong>Required Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>7+ years of experience in <strong>data architecture, data engineering, or enterprise architecture</strong></li><li>Proven experience leading <strong>end-to-end data discovery and architecture design initiatives</strong></li><li>Strong background in <strong>data modeling, system mapping, and enterprise data strategy</strong></li><li>Hands-on experience with modern data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP, Snowflake, Databricks, SQL Server)</li><li>Deep understanding of <strong>data governance frameworks and best practices</strong></li><li>Experience working in <strong>regulated environments with HIPAA and PCI compliance requirements</strong></li><li>Strong knowledge of <strong>data integration methodologies (ETL/ELT, APIs, middleware tools)</strong></li><li>Ability to translate business needs into scalable technical architectures</li></ul><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Experience designing <strong>cloud-based or hybrid data architectures</strong></li><li>Familiarity with BI/analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)</li><li>Exposure to <strong>data lakehouse architectures and modern data stacks</strong></li><li>Background supporting <strong>large-scale enterprise transformations or migrations</strong></li></ul><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Deliverables</strong></p><ul><li>Current-state architecture assessment and gap analysis</li><li>Future-state data architecture roadmap (5–10 year vision)</li><li>Data flow diagrams and system mapping documentation</li><li>Data governance framework and compliance guidelines</li><li>Integration architecture recommendations</li></ul><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><strong>What Success Looks Like</strong></p><ul><li>Clear understanding of the current environment and pain points</li><li>Defined, scalable architecture aligned to business growth</li><li>Improved data accessibility, integrity, and governance</li><li>Reduced fragmentation across systems and improved integrations</li><li>Compliance-ready data environment supporting regulated data</li></ul><p><br></p>
