Location: San Marcos, CA (On-Site 4 Days/Week)<br> Duration: Immediate Start through First Week of January<br><br>Position Overview<br><br>Our client is seeking a hands-on Assistant Controller or Controller Consultant to provide interim leadership during a leave period. This role will partner closely with the CFO to oversee accounting operations, ensure timely month-end close, support year-end audit readiness, and provide stability to the accounting team.<br><br>Key Responsibilities<br><br>Accounting &amp; Financial Reporting<br><br>Lead the monthly close process and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.<br>Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.<br>Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure GAAP compliance.<br>Analyze financial results and support year-end close activities.<br><br>Team Leadership<br><br>Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Staff Accounting functions.<br>Serve as the primary accounting resource for operational departments.<br>Provide leadership, guidance, and continuity for the accounting team.<br><br>Inventory &amp; Cost Accounting<br><br>Oversee inventory accounting, reconciliations, and valuation.<br>Review production variances and manufacturing cost analysis.<br>Partner with operations to ensure accurate financial reporting of inventory and production activity.<br><br>Audit, Compliance &amp; Controls<br><br>Support external audit preparation and audit requests.<br>Review balance sheet reconciliations and strengthen internal controls.<br>Assist with sales tax filings, business licenses, permits, and other compliance requirements.<br><br>Treasury &amp; ERP<br><br>Review cash activity, banking transactions, and reconciliations.<br>Act as the Finance Lead for accounting-related ERP activities.<br>Support Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central processes, reporting, and data integrity.<br>Qualifications<br><br>Required<br><br>Bachelor&#39;s degree in Accounting or Finance.<br>8+ years of progressive accounting experience.<br>4+ years of accounting leadership experience.<br>Strong GAAP knowledge.<br>Experience leading month-end close, financial reporting, and audit support.<br><br>Preferred<br><br>Manufacturing industry experience.<br>Inventory and cost accounting expertise.<br>Prior Assistant Controller or Controller experience.<br>Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience.<br>CPA preferred but not required.<br>Immediate Priorities<br>Maintain continuity of accounting operations.<br>Ensure accurate and timely month-end closes.<br>Support year-end close and audit readiness.<br>Provide accounting leadership during the leave period.<br>Partner closely with the CFO on year-end financial reporting and close activities.<br><br>This opportunity is ideal for an experienced accounting leader who can quickly step into a manufacturing environment, provide hands-on support, and drive successful year-end execution.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.<br>• At least 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility.<br>• Proven background managing month-end close, financial statement preparation, and year-end reporting activities.<br>• Experience supporting external audits and responding to audit documentation requests.<br>• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, and profit and loss reporting.<br>• Hands-on experience with inventory accounting and cost analysis, ideally within a manufacturing environment.<br>• Prior experience in a Controller or Assistant Controller capacity is strongly preferred.<br>• Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is preferred.
