<p>We are looking for a Sr Java Engineer to help design and enhance the services behind a customer-facing Consumer Insights platform in San Francisco, California. This long-term contract position focuses on building reliable backend systems, delivering new features, and improving application performance in a fast-moving engineering environment. The role offers the opportunity to work with large-scale data, contribute to API and business logic development, and partner closely with teammates to maintain high technical standards.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p>• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend applications and foundational platform services that support a consumer insights product.</p><p>• Deliver new backend capabilities and software enhancements, with a primary emphasis on feature development and service improvement.</p><p>• Create and tune SQL queries for large datasets, including work with data housed in Snowflake.</p><p>• Participate in peer code reviews and help strengthen engineering best practices, code quality, and maintainability.</p><p>• Investigate defects, resolve production and application issues, and improve overall system reliability.</p><p>• Share clear updates on progress, risks, and technical blockers to keep stakeholders and team members aligned.</p><p>• Take increasing ownership of more complex initiatives after onboarding through smaller fixes and incremental improvements.</p>

• Strong foundation in software engineering with a history of producing well-structured, dependable code.<br>• Hands-on experience with Java, preferably including exposure to modern versions such as Java 21.<br>• Working proficiency in Python and the ability to contribute effectively in a backend environment centered on Java.<br>• Demonstrated experience building APIs and implementing backend business logic for production systems.<br>• Advanced SQL skills and confidence working with high-volume data environments.<br>• Experience supporting external-facing applications or products used directly by customers.<br>• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting.<br>• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related discipline, or comparable practical experience is preferred.
