Data Entry Clerk
We are looking for a detail-oriented Data Entry Clerk to support grant and project administration in Saint Louis, Missouri. This is a Contract position focused on maintaining accurate financial tracking records, validating project data, and helping ensure supporting documentation stays current. The ideal candidate brings strong data entry skills, careful attention to detail, and the ability to work confidently with spreadsheets and recurring monthly reporting tasks.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Maintain and update budget tracking spreadsheets for grant-supported projects on a recurring schedule.<br>• Retrieve monthly project financial data from PowerPlan and enter it into reporting workbooks with accuracy.<br>• Refresh actuals reporting by adding new monthly data columns and importing current figures into the appropriate spreadsheet tabs.<br>• Verify that totals, account codes, and related financial details remain consistent across tracking files and source systems.<br>• Update charts and visual tracking elements within spreadsheets to reflect the latest budget activity.<br>• Compare effort allocations, including salary and fringe amounts, between budget trackers and PowerPlan to confirm alignment.<br>• Review effort reports against budget records and identify discrepancies for follow-up.<br>• Process subaward invoices by assigning the correct codes and confirming charges are within available budget balances.<br>• Support grant administration tasks such as preparing biosketch drafts, monitoring publication updates for collaborators, and revising current and pending support documentation as needed.
• At least 2 years of experience in data entry, administrative support, or a related office-based role.<br>• Demonstrated accuracy in numeric data entry and strong overall typing skills.<br>• Proficiency with spreadsheets and the ability to manage recurring updates in data-heavy files.<br>• Strong attention to detail with the ability to reconcile figures and spot inconsistencies.<br>• Comfort working with financial records, budgets, invoices, or project tracking documentation.<br>• Ability to organize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain consistency in routine processes.<br>• Clear written and verbal communication skills for reporting issues and coordinating follow-up actions.
