We are looking for an experienced CFO/Controller to lead core accounting operations for a manufacturing organization in Rockford, Illinois. This role will oversee financial reporting, guide budgeting and analysis activities, and help maintain strong controls across day-to-day accounting processes. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in operational accounting, sound business judgment, and the ability to support leadership with clear financial insight. Responsibilities:• Lead daily accounting activities across receivables, payables, payroll accounting, general ledger management, expense reporting, inventory accounting, and fixed asset tracking.• Direct the month-end close process by reviewing reconciliations, approving journal entries, and ensuring financial records are completed accurately and on schedule.• Examine trial balances and perform analytical reviews to identify variances, resolve discrepancies, and support reliable financial results.• Prepare, evaluate, and interpret financial statements, management reports, and budget performance summaries for leadership review.• Provide recommendations to management on process enhancements that strengthen efficiency, reporting quality, and financial oversight.• Supervise accounting team members, set priorities, and ensure essential accounting tasks are performed accurately and within deadlines.• Establish and maintain internal control standards designed to protect assets, support compliance, and reinforce consistent accounting practices.• Support budgeting and forecasting efforts by applying financial analysis to operational results, cost trends, and business planning needs. 10+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including leadership responsibility within a manufacturing environment.Private Equity experienceCPA a definite plus Strong command of inventory accounting, fixed asset accounting, and month-end close procedures.Demonstrated experience producing financial reporting, management reporting, and budget-related analysis.Solid understanding of general ledger activity, account reconciliations, journal entries, and trial balance review.KKnowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll accounting, and expense management processes.Proven ability to develop internal controls and improve accounting procedures through practical recommendations.Excellent analytical, organizational, and supervisory skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
