Payroll Clerk
We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to support a non-profit organization in Okemos, Michigan through a Contract assignment. This role is well suited for someone who can manage payroll activities with accuracy, maintain organized records, and work effectively with part-time staff such as counselors and other employees. The position focuses on biweekly payroll processing for a workforce of approximately 60 employees while ensuring timely collection and review of submitted timesheets.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Administer biweekly payroll for roughly 60 employees, ensuring wages are calculated accurately and paid on schedule.<br>• Review, verify, and organize employee timesheets submitted for payroll processing, following established procedures and deadlines.<br>• Maintain payroll records and supporting documentation with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.<br>• Address payroll discrepancies by researching hours, pay details, deductions, and related employee information.<br>• Process payroll adjustments such as garnishments and other required withholdings in compliance with applicable guidelines.<br>• Coordinate with internal contacts to gather missing or incomplete timekeeping information before payroll deadlines.<br>• Support ongoing payroll operations for part-time team members, including counselors and similar staff groups.<br>• Work an every-other-week schedule from Monday through Thursday aligned with the organization’s payroll cycle.
• Experience processing payroll in a detail-focused setting with strong attention to detail.<br>• Working knowledge of full-cycle payroll practices from time collection through final payroll completion.<br>• Background handling payroll for small to mid-sized employee populations, including workforces under 100 employees.<br>• Familiarity with payroll deductions and garnishment administration.<br>• Ability to review timesheets carefully and resolve inaccuracies in a timely manner.<br>• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage recurring deadlines in a part-time environment.<br>• Strong communication skills and discretion when handling sensitive payroll information.
