Controller
<p>Our client in Napa is seeking an interim Controller for a 2+ month engagement. In this role, you will partner with the CFO to manage the day-to-day accounting activities and maintain accurate and timely inventory records. The ideal candidate will have a background in the wine industry and possess strong leadership skills to oversee accounting processes and guide the team. This is a hybrid role requiring at least 3 days/week onsite in Napa and it is expected to pay between $60-$70/hr. DOE.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p>• Ensure adherence to tax regulations and industry-specific financial reporting standards</p><p>• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports to support business operations</p><p>• Develop and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance</p><p>• Lead cost accounting initiatives, including product costing, variance analysis, and profitability assessments</p><p>• Manage inventory valuation, bulk inventory tracking, and financial reconciliation for winery operations</p><p>• Collaborate with finance and operations teams to enhance accounting processes and improve efficiency</p><p>• Coordinate external audits and maintain relationships with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies</p><p>• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning efforts to align with organizational goals</p><p>• Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to executive leadership</p><p>• Mentor and manage accounting personnel to encourage attention to detail and maintain high performance</p>
<p>• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced certifications preferred</p><p>• At least 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with a focus on compliance and cost accounting</p><p>• Proven expertise in the wine industry, including inventory and cost accounting</p><p>• Proficiency in QuickBooks and MS Excel</p><p>• Strong knowledge of GAAP standards and financial controls</p><p>• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills</p><p>• Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively across departments</p><p>• Familiarity with tools like bill.com and experience with variance analysis and WIP accounting</p>
