Controller
We are looking for a Controller to join our team in Hattiesburg, Mississippi for a Contract position focused on restoring timely and accurate accounting operations. This role will take ownership of overdue reconciliations, support a disciplined close process, and deliver reliable financial reporting to help the business regain visibility into its books. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on accounting expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to organize and complete a significant backlog of work efficiently.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Lead efforts to bring bank and general ledger account reconciliations up to date and resolve outstanding discrepancies.<br>• Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation to maintain accurate financial records.<br>• Manage the month-end close process, ensuring deadlines are met and balances are properly reviewed.<br>• Produce monthly financial reports and financial statements that reflect current operating results.<br>• Investigate historical accounting issues, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions where needed.<br>• Maintain accounting records within QuickBooks Desktop while supporting accounting activities tied to the move to QuickBooks Online.<br>• Use Microsoft Excel to analyze account activity, organize reconciliations, and track progress on outstanding items.
• Demonstrated experience performing bank reconciliations and account reconciliations in a high-volume accounting environment.<br>• Strong working knowledge of journal entries, month-end close, and monthly financial reporting.<br>• Ability to prepare and review accurate financial statements with close attention to detail.<br>• Hands-on experience using QuickBooks Desktop; familiarity with QuickBooks Online is also required.<br>• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for account analysis, tracking schedules, and reporting support.<br>• Proven ability to work independently, prioritize a backlog of accounting tasks, and meet deadlines in a Contract role.
