Assistant Controller
<p>We are looking for an Assistant Controller to join our client's finance leadership team in Greensboro, North Carolina. This role is responsible for strengthening day-to-day accounting operations, supporting accurate and timely financial reporting, and helping maintain a well-controlled environment across core finance activities. The position will work closely with internal stakeholders to guide close activities, improve reporting quality, and ensure compliance with applicable accounting and tax requirements.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p>• Lead and support the monthly and periodic close process, helping deliver accurate financial results on schedule while contributing to forecasting and budgeting activities.</p><p>• Oversee daily accounting functions across receivables, payables, payroll, and cash activity to promote smooth operations and dependable financial data.</p><p>• Direct general ledger activity by reviewing account classifications, approving journal entries, and ensuring reconciliations are completed thoroughly and on time.</p><p>• Validate job cost reporting and inventory-related balances, and confirm that subsidiary records align with the general ledger across key accounting areas.</p><p>• Prepare audit schedules, supporting documentation, and inventory-related materials required for annual external audit procedures and physical inventory review.</p><p>• Assist with treasury-related tasks by monitoring banking platform activity and supporting cash management processes.</p><p>• Manage compliance for applicable tax obligations, including sales and use tax, property tax reporting, and annual information reporting such as 1099 filings.</p><p>• Strengthen adherence to accounting policies and internal control practices by identifying risks, recommending improvements, and helping protect company assets.</p><p>• Partner with operational and administrative teams to gather financial information, analyze results, and support sound business decisions.</p>
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience in accounting and financial operations.<br>• At least 7 years of progressive experience in general accounting, financial analysis, or controllership support, ideally within a manufacturing environment.<br>• Strong working knowledge of month-end close, general ledger management, financial reporting, and account reconciliation processes.<br>• Experience supporting external audits and preparing documentation for financial statement review and compliance requirements.<br>• Demonstrated ability to supervise or guide accounting staff while maintaining deadlines and high standards of accuracy.<br>• Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data, investigate variances, and communicate findings clearly.<br>• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications used for reporting, analysis, and documentation.
