We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Durham, North Carolina. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance, and supporting the organization’s accounting functions. Responsibilities: • Manage daily accounting functions, including general ledger entries and account reconciliations. • Oversee month-end close procedures and ensure accurate bank reconciliations. • Support annual audits and compliance efforts, collaborating with external auditors as needed. • Handle accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes while providing light HR support. • Develop and improve standard operating procedures to enhance efficiency. • Ensure compliance with fund and grant accounting requirements, maintaining accurate records. • Collaborate with the Controller and other team members to achieve organizational goals. • Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Bill.com, and Expensify to streamline processes. • Monitor financial transactions and proactively address discrepancies. • Assist in managing financial reporting and analysis for decision-making purposes.

• A minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, with a strong foundation in financial operations. • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. • Proficiency in accounting systems, including QuickBooks, Bill.com, and Expensify. • Experience in non-profit or public accounting is highly preferred. • Strong knowledge of month-end close, account reconciliation, and general ledger processes. • Ability to work independently while identifying and implementing process improvements. • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset. • Familiarity with grant and fund accounting practices is a plus.
