Report Developer
We are looking for a Report Developer to serve as a consultative BI partner supporting a centralized reporting and forecasting strategy for a machinery manufacturing organization in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This Contract position is focused on advising stakeholders on the best reporting approach, shaping practical dashboard solutions, and improving financial visibility across quoting, pipeline, and operational data. The role combines hands-on analytical guidance with knowledge transfer, helping Finance adopt reporting tools that reduce manual spreadsheet work and support more reliable forecasting.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Evaluate existing reporting limitations and recommend a scalable business intelligence approach using Power BI, another reporting platform, or a blended solution.<br>• Advise on consolidating data from manufacturing, CRM, and estimating systems to create a unified view for analysis and decision-making.<br>• Design and refine dashboard frameworks that support revenue projections, job cost oversight, margin analysis, sales pipeline transparency, and monthly financial performance tracking.<br>• Establish forecasting methodology by identifying critical drivers, business assumptions, and calculation logic used in financial and operational reporting.<br>• Provide individualized training and practical guidance to Finance team members so they can confidently use and maintain reporting outputs.<br>• Partner with stakeholders to improve visibility into cash flow, spending versus revenue, and high-value project performance.<br>• Recommend ways to reduce dependence on manual Excel-based reporting through more automated and sustainable BI solutions.<br>• Support ongoing enhancements to reports and dashboards as source systems, business needs, and reporting priorities change.
• Demonstrated expertise with Power BI or a comparable business intelligence platform for building and structuring reports and dashboards.<br>• Experience combining data from multiple business systems into usable reporting models and datasets.<br>• Strong knowledge of data modeling, reporting architecture, and SQL-based data environments such as Microsoft SQL Server.<br>• Background in forecasting, budgeting, financial reporting, or cash flow analysis.<br>• Ability to communicate clearly with business users and deliver effective one-on-one training.<br>• Comfortable working in a part-time, advisory-focused Contract role with a hands-on consulting approach.<br>• Familiarity with manufacturing, job shop, or project-based production environments is highly preferred.<br>• Exposure to tools such as Salesforce, SSRS, or similar reporting ecosystems is a plus.
