<p><strong>Senior Systems &amp; Network Engineer (with Security Focus)</strong></p><p><br></p><p>&#128205; <strong>Location:</strong> Hybrid in Boston, MA</p><p>&#128188; <strong>Full-Time | Senior Individual Contributor</strong></p><p><br></p><p><strong>About the Role</strong></p><p>We’re seeking a <strong>Senior Systems &amp; Network Engineer</strong> who brings a strong security mindset to traditional infrastructure engineering. This is <em>not</em> a pure security role—it’s ideal for someone who has spent most of their career working in systems, servers, networking, firewalls, and infrastructure, and has also been involved in security troubleshooting, incident response, or remediation.</p><p>If you’re a true <strong>jack‑of‑all‑trades</strong> who understands how environments are built, how networks actually function, and how security issues impact real infrastructure, this is the role for you.</p><p>You’ll help strengthen our security posture by applying practical knowledge of how systems and networks behave, where vulnerabilities hide, and how to detect and fix issues efficiently.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>What You’ll Do</strong></p><ul><li>Manage and support core infrastructure including servers, networks, virtualization, cloud services, and firewalls.</li><li>Investigate and remediate security issues by leveraging your understanding of how systems and networks operate.</li><li>Assist with vulnerability management, patching, endpoint hardening, and incident response efforts.</li><li>Monitor and improve environment performance, availability, and overall health.</li><li>Support upgrades, migrations, and implementations across systems and network components.</li><li>Collaborate with security teams, IT leadership, and business stakeholders to ensure infrastructure stability and security.</li><li>Document environments, create runbooks, and contribute to best practices.</li></ul><p><br></p>

<p><strong>What You’ll Bring</strong></p><ul><li>Strong background in <strong>systems administration</strong> (Windows and/or Linux), server management, virtualization, or cloud environments.</li><li>Hands-on experience with <strong>networking fundamentals</strong>—routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, load balancers, etc.</li><li>Practical exposure to <strong>security work</strong>, such as:</li><li>vulnerability management</li><li>incident response or troubleshooting</li><li>log analysis / SIEM tools</li><li>endpoint or network hardening</li><li>patching and configuration best practices</li><li>Ability to understand <em>how infrastructure failures and misconfigurations lead to security gaps</em>.</li><li>Experience working across hybrid, cloud, or on-prem environments.</li><li>Strong problem-solving skills—able to diagnose and resolve complex issues across multiple layers.</li><li>Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Nice to Have</strong></p><ul><li>Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).</li><li>Firewall or network security appliance experience (Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco, etc.).</li><li>Scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, Bash).</li><li>Certifications are a plus (Security+, Network+, CCNA, MCSE, etc.) but <em>not required</em>.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Why This Role Is Unique</strong></p><ul><li>Not a pure SOC or security analyst job—this is infrastructure engineering with a strong security lens.</li><li>You’ll have variety: systems, networks, security, troubleshooting, project work, and improvements.</li><li>You’ll play a meaningful part in making the environment more secure by applying real-world engineering experience.</li><li>Opportunity to work in a collaborative team where your voice matters and your expertise is valued.</li></ul><p><br></p>
