Assistant Controller
<p>We are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to support the financial operations of private equity funds, co-investment structures, and continuation vehicles in Boston, Massachusetts. This position plays a central role in fund accounting, financial reporting, and operational oversight while partnering with internal teams and external service providers to maintain accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery. The role also offers an opportunity to improve finance processes through data-driven insights, automation, and scalable reporting practices.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p>• Direct accounting and reporting activities for private equity funds, co-investment vehicles, and continuation funds, including oversight of year-end audit readiness and execution.</p><p>• Supervise external fund administrators by reviewing ledger activity, journal entries, reconciliations, close processes, trial balances, and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy.</p><p>• Prepare and examine quarterly and annual fund financial statements, including capital account reporting and related schedules for partners and stakeholders.</p><p>• Lead the execution of capital calls, cash distributions, reserve activity, and investor reporting with a focus on precision and timeliness.</p><p>• Monitor adherence to partnership terms, internal accounting policies, and applicable reporting obligations across fund operations.</p><p>• Support treasury and transaction-related finance activities tied to investment acquisitions, exits, and restructuring events.</p><p>• Coordinate with internal tax professionals to deliver accurate information for tax reporting and related fund-level requirements.</p><p>• Strengthen accounting controls, maintain clear process documentation, and respond effectively to requests from investors, auditors, and internal business partners.</p><p>• Identify and implement opportunities to enhance reporting, streamline workflows, and increase efficiency through automation, analytics, and emerging finance technologies.</p>
<p>• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field</p><p>• 6-8+ years of experience in accounting, public/private mix preferred, CPA required</p><p>• Strong command of general ledger management, month-end close, and financial reporting practices.</p><p>• Experience preparing audited financial statements and working closely with external auditors and third-party administrators.</p><p>• Knowledge of partnership accounting principles and fund structures within private equity.</p><p>• Proficiency with Excel and familiarity with fund accounting platforms and reporting systems.</p><p>• Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong analytical judgment, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.</p><p>• Exposure to automation tools, data analytics solutions, or AI-enabled reporting processes is preferred.</p>
