<p><strong>Robert Half</strong> is actively partnering with an Austin-based client to identify a Data Engineer <strong>(contract).</strong> In this role, you will provide both technical and project leadership in designing, developing, and optimizing modern data solutions. This role will partner closely with business and technology stakeholders to deliver scalable data pipelines, drive data strategy initiatives, and lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced enterprise environment. <strong>This role is hybrid in Austin, Tx. </strong></p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Lead the design, development, and delivery of enterprise data engineering and integration initiatives.</li><li>Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements, define solutions, and ensure successful project execution.</li><li>Drive Agile delivery practices while supporting strategic business priorities and innovation initiatives.</li><li>Architect, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and transforming large volumes of structured and unstructured data.</li><li>Develop and maintain robust ETL/ELT processes to integrate data from multiple enterprise systems and external sources.</li><li>Implement data quality controls, validation processes, and monitoring frameworks to ensure data accuracy and reliability.</li><li>Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering technical growth and supporting team success.</li><li>Establish and maintain data security, governance, and access control standards.</li><li>Collaborate with product owners, engineering teams, analysts, QA, operations, and project stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.</li><li>Translate business requirements into technical specifications, data mappings, and implementation plans.</li><li>Identify project risks, dependencies, and technical challenges while developing mitigation strategies.</li><li>Create and maintain documentation for deployments, support procedures, and operational processes.</li><li>Support deployment automation, application support efforts, and continuous process improvement initiatives.</li><li>Coordinate with distributed teams across multiple locations and time zones to drive successful project outcomes.</li></ul>

<p><strong>Required Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>8+ years of hands-on experience in Data Engineering, Data Integration, or Data Warehousing.</li><li>2+ years of technical leadership, project leadership, or team lead experience within a matrixed environment.</li><li>3+ years of experience supporting highly regulated industries such as financial services, healthcare, insurance, or similar sectors.</li><li>Strong expertise in ETL/ELT development, data quality frameworks, exception handling, and data integration best practices.</li><li>Advanced SQL skills and experience with modern cloud-based data platforms.</li><li>Hands-on experience with Google Cloud technologies, including data processing, orchestration, messaging, and storage services.</li><li>Expertise with Informatica Cloud (IDMC/IICS) and Python development.</li><li>Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools to improve efficiency and productivity.</li><li>Strong business analysis skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical data solutions.</li><li>Deep understanding of data warehouse architecture, dimensional modeling, fact and dimension design, and operational data stores.</li><li>Knowledge of metadata management, data governance, and data lifecycle management practices.</li><li>Experience working with geographically distributed and offshore development teams.</li><li>Bachelor&#39;s or Master&#39;s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.</li></ul><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Experience integrating data from enterprise applications such as HR, ITSM, project management, ERP, CRM, or other business systems.</li><li>Experience providing technical direction, coaching, and performance feedback to development teams.</li><li>Strong problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to design and implement scalable, high-quality solutions.</li><li>Experience creating and delivering technical presentations and documentation for both technical and business audiences.</li><li>Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic enterprise environment.</li><li>Strong understanding of modern data pipeline architectures, integration patterns, and best practices.</li><li>Experience with source control, CI/CD, database migration, and DevOps tools.</li><li>Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.</li></ul><p><strong>Contract Benefit Offerings:</strong></p><ul><li>Healthcare (medical, dental, and vision plans)</li><li>401(k) and retirement plans</li><li>Commuter benefits</li><li>Employee and vendor discounts</li><li>Employee Assistance Program (EAP)</li><li>And many more!</li></ul><p><br></p>
