<p>Kyle Clarke with Robert Half of Buffalo, NY has partnered with a local commercial real estate firm that is in need of a Controller. This opportunity is located in Buffalo, New York. This position offers close collaboration with senior leadership and ownership, along with meaningful involvement in accounting operations, financial planning, and strategic decision-making. It is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting specialist who wants to expand beyond a traditional public accounting path and contribute to a growing real estate and family office environment.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p>• Oversee the company’s accounting activities and maintain accurate financial records across real estate entities and related business operations.</p><p>• Lead the monthly and year-end close process, ensuring timely reporting, account reconciliations, and compliance with internal standards.</p><p>• Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and analysis that support operational and investment decisions.</p><p>• Coordinate tax-related activities, including annual filings, audit support, and collaboration with external tax advisors.</p><p>• Monitor property and corporate financial performance, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improved controls and efficiency.</p><p>• Partner with ownership and executive leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and long-term financial planning.</p><p>• Strengthen accounting procedures, documentation practices, and record management to improve accuracy and organization across the finance function.Kyle C</p>
• 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including leadership responsibility in a controller or senior accounting capacity.<br>• Background in real estate accounting, with exposure to residential, commercial, private, or closely held real estate environments.<br>• Strong knowledge of month-end close, financial reporting, general ledger oversight, and account reconciliation processes.<br>• Experience supporting annual tax matters, tax accounting activities, and audit preparation in partnership with external advisors.<br>• Ability to analyze financial information, manage detailed documentation, and maintain well-organized accounting records.<br>• Strong understanding of internal controls and accounting best practices within a growing business environment.<br>• Effective communication skills and the ability to work closely with senior leadership, ownership, and cross-functional stakeholders.
