We are looking for an experienced Cost Accountant to join our team in Toronto, Ontario. This is a Contract position that offers the opportunity to transition into a permanent role. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in cost accounting, particularly within manufacturing environments, and demonstrate advanced proficiency in Excel and other financial tools. Responsibilities:• Manage and maintain the standard cost system to ensure accurate and efficient operations.• Conduct month-end and year-end closing activities related to sales, cost of sales, and manufacturing variances.• Prepare detailed reconciliations for costs, sales, and inventory to support financial accuracy.• Post month-end journal entries and ensure all related financial documentation is completed.• Handle inter-company reconciliations, including markup schedules and resolving cost transaction discrepancies.• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to monitor and analyze manufacturing costs.• Utilize advanced Excel skills to navigate and manage complex worksheets for reporting and analysis.• Support the preparation of financial reports and dashboards using tools such as Power BI.• Identify and implement process improvements within cost accounting practices to enhance efficiency.

• Proven experience in cost accounting, ideally within a manufacturing or customized production environment.• Strong knowledge of standard cost systems and their application in financial operations.• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including managing complex worksheets and formulas.• Familiarity with tools such as SAP for reporting and data analysis.• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills to address financial discrepancies.• Ability to manage month-end and year-end closing processes independently.• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work across departments.• Experience with inter-company reconciliations and resolving transaction differences.
