Development Accounting Assistant
We are looking for a detail-oriented Development Accounting Assistant to join a real estate and property organization in Vancouver, British Columbia on a Contract basis. This role supports development accounting activities by coordinating invoice documentation, assisting with payment processing, and maintaining organized financial records for project-related expenses. The successful candidate will work closely with accounting and development teams to help keep billing workflows accurate, timely, and well documented.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Manage the intake and review of consultant, vendor, contractor, and trade invoices to confirm required supporting documents are complete before processing.<br>• Coordinate timely handling of project-related billings and follow established procedures to support accurate accounts payable activities.<br>• Liaise with development staff and accounting team members to resolve coding questions, payment issues, and invoice discrepancies.<br>• Organize and review general contractor billing packages and internal purchase order documentation to ensure records are complete and accessible.<br>• Prepare accounts payable vouchers and related administrative documents needed for invoice approval and payment processing.<br>• Examine vendor statements, identify missing or outstanding invoices, and follow up with the appropriate internal teams to obtain required information.<br>• Provide coverage for invoice processing and payment tasks when additional support is needed within the development accounting function.<br>• Assist with day-to-day administrative duties that contribute to the efficiency of the Development Accounting team.
<p>• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.</p><p>• Previous experience in an accounting support role; exposure to real estate development or construction environments is considered an asset.</p><p>• Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, real estate, or a related field is considered an asset.</p><p>• Familiarity with Yardi or a similar accounting platform is preferred.</p><p>• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.</p><p>• Ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate well with cross-functional teams.</p>
