Controller
<p>We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead the financial operations of an expanding organization that owns multiple medical practices in Alberta. This position will oversee accounting, treasury, reporting, and compliance while helping strengthen systems, controls, and financial insight across the business. The successful candidate will partner closely with leadership and operational stakeholders to support sound decision-making and sustainable growth.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p><br></p><p>• Lead and mentor a finance team of five, setting priorities and strengthening day-to-day accounting operations across the organization.</p><p>• Provide oversight of financial management activities, including accounting practices, internal controls, regulatory compliance, and reporting standards.</p><p>• Manage cash flow planning by preparing forecasts, monitoring daily liquidity, and supporting funding decisions tied to business growth and capital needs.</p><p>• Coordinate banking activities by submitting regular forecasts and covenant reporting, arranging financing requests, and maintaining productive lender relationships.</p><p>• Support acquisition activity by evaluating opportunities, contributing financial guidance during due diligence, and helping integrate newly acquired clinics into established processes.</p><p>• Drive budgeting and forecasting efforts, analyze variances against actual results, and identify trends that support proactive financial planning.</p><p>• Improve financial processes and technology-enabled workflows to enhance efficiency, strengthen data integrity, and shorten the monthly close timeline.</p><p>• Develop performance reporting, annual internal audit checklists, and timely key metrics to provide leadership with clearer visibility into business results.</p><p>• Oversee specialized finance responsibilities such as corporate tax remittances, investment reconciliations, bonus calculations, benefits-related financial calculations, and other scheduled reporting requirements.</p><p>• Act as a financial liaison with joint venture partners, vendors, banks, lease management providers, dentists, and senior leadership while providing ad hoc analysis and project updates as needed.</p>
<p>Requirements:</p><p><br></p><p>• An accounting designation (CPA) is required.</p><p>• At least 7 years of progressive finance experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a previous Controller position.</p><p>• Strong expertise in controllership, financial reporting, and corporate financial planning.</p><p>• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial statements, consolidated results, and audited year-end reporting packages.</p><p>• Experience managing cash flow, banking relationships, credit facilities, and capital funding activities.</p><p>• Proven leadership skills with the ability to guide teams, influence stakeholders, and support executive decision-making.</p><p>• A detail-oriented, collaborative approach with a positive attitude and a focus on maintaining a respectful, low-conflict work environment.</p><p><br></p><p>If this sounds like you, please apply today!</p>
