Assistant Controller
<p><strong>THE ROLE:</strong></p><p>Are you a hands-on accounting leader ready to support a client on a long-term contract? Our client is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join their finance team and play a key role in financial reporting, month-end close, process improvement, and team leadership. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership while supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of a growing organization.</p><p><em>What You'll Do:</em></p><ul><li>Support the oversight of day-to-day accounting operations and full-cycle accounting functions</li><li>Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including a September 30 fiscal year-end</li><li>Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and budgeting analysis</li><li>Manage account reconciliations, including intercompany transactions and multiple bank accounts</li><li>Review journal entries, general ledger activity, and financial data accuracy</li><li>Assist with audit preparation and ensure compliance with internal controls and reporting requirements</li><li>Provide leadership, coaching, and support to a small accounting team</li><li>Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and overall financial efficiency</li></ul><p><strong>ABOUT YOU:</strong></p><p>You are a collaborative and hands-on accounting professional who enjoys balancing technical accounting responsibilities with leadership and mentorship. <p><strong>YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:</strong></p><ul><li>CPA designation preferred or working toward completion</li><li>5+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience</li><li>Strong background in full-cycle accounting, month-end close, and financial statement preparation</li><li>Experience with intercompany reconciliations and account reconciliations</li><li>Proficiency with ERP systems, including Sage 300, and advanced Excel skills</li><li>Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, GST, and corporate accounting practices</li><li>Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills</li><li>Previous supervisory or team leadership experience considered an asset</li></ul><p>If you're a Senior Accountant ready to take the next step in your career or an experienced Assistant Controller seeking a new challenge, this is an excellent opportunity to expand your leadership experience and make a visible impact within a growing organization.
