Wayne S. Mello is the President of Robert Half Executive Search which specializes in the search and placement of executive-level financial officers (CFOs); information technology, sales and marketing, legal and human resources professionals; as well as COOs and CEOs, in growth-oriented, small to medium sized business entities, with annual revenues between US$20 million and $2 billion.
Headquartered in the Boston office, Wayne oversees all day-to-day leadership activities and operations, including hiring, training, marketing and strategic direction for Robert Half Executive Search business units located in Boston, New York City, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Los Angeles, La Jolla and Honolulu.
Wayne also functions as the Robert Half Executive Search product line expert and advisor for our executive search business units located in Seattle, Minneapolis, Chicago, Denver, Dallas, Atlanta, Toronto, Vancouver, London, Brussels, Antwerp and Sydney.
Wayne has more than 40 years of experience in the executive recruitment industry. He started his career at Scott Wayne Associates, Boston, from 1973 - 1983; serving as Senior Vice President and Assistant General Manager, focused on leading an elite team of placement consultants and active in the execution of accounting/financial management placements.
In 1983 he exited Scott Wayne Associates and, with the help of a VC firm, founded and served as President and CEO of the Thelton Group, a holding company based in Tampa, Fla., through which he owned and operated multiple, specialized staffing companies throughout Florida from 1983-1990.
In 1990, he joined Robert Half when Robert Half acquired the Thelton Group. As District Director, Wayne oversaw Robert Half’s staffing operations in South Florida, New England and throughout the Northeastern U.S. Later, as Senior District President, he was responsible for all Eastern U.S. operations for the company, with annual revenue of more than $600 million.
In 1999, he became Executive Director of the company’s Robert Half Finance & Accounting business and helped the division build market share throughout North America.
In 2004, Wayne relocated to London, England as the Executive Director of Robert Half's International Zone, specifically focused on helping to expand market share for Robert Half Finance and Accounting operations in the UK, Continental Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
Wayne returned to the U.S. in 2007 and coordinated all start up activities relative to the founding and launch of Robert Half Executive Search.
Personal and Professional Activities
Wayne is a well-known expert in the recruitment industry, having authored numerous articles on topics such as hiring techniques, professional development and executive job search strategies. He also has spoken on various career and management related issues for audiences worldwide. His philanthropic efforts include active involvement in the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
