This role includes preparing financial reports, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with both Federal Income Tax accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). <p>We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a dynamic real estate development organization based in Montgomery County (off of I-270). This role is integral to ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial records across a diverse portfolio of commercial, residential, and retail properties. As part of the accounting team, the Staff Accountant will collaborate closely with the Controller and other team members to maintain compliance with financial standards and support key accounting functions.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p>· Perform accounts payable activities, including invoice processing, coding, and payment preparation, and record related general ledger entries and supporting documentation in accordance with established policies and controls</p><p>· Perform accounts receivable and cash receipts activities, including recording deposits, posting receipts, and supporting routine collections tracking and reporting</p><p>· Support the month-end close process through timely preparation of assigned reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation, including bank and credit card reconciliations</p><p>· Support intercompany accounting activities, including recording intercompany journal entries, monitoring balances, and preparing related billings</p><p>· Prepare assigned financial reports and supporting schedules for internal reporting, tax preparation, and compliance requirements</p><p>· Maintain organized, accurate, and auditable workpapers to support review and approval processes</p><p>· Identify discrepancies, issues, or variances and escalate in accordance with established procedures and review protocols</p><p>· Coordinate with the Controller, Accounting Managers, and other team members to resolve routine accounting questions, follow-ups, and information requests</p><p><br></p><p>The ideal candidate for this Staff Accountant role will have a BS in Accounting, 3+ years of accounting experience coming out of another real estate company, professional services or a multi-entity environment and experience preparing JE's, recs, AP, AR, GL and month end close.
