  • Role Overview<br><br>This short-term contract role focuses on assessing and improving daily operations behind the scenes. You’ll be responsible for ensuring our team has what they need to succeed each day — from inventory to scheduling to systems — without working front-of-house. Your expertise will help us create a more efficient, sustainable café operation.<br><br>Key Responsibilities:<br><br>Inventory Management<br><br>Assess and refine current inventory systems<br><br>Monitor and adjust stock levels of food, beverages, and supplies<br><br>Recommend ordering and vendor adjustments to reduce waste and cost<br><br>Staff Support & Scheduling<br><br>Review employee schedules for coverage, efficiency, and balance<br><br>Ensure staff have the tools and supplies needed for daily operations<br><br>Identify gaps in workflow or processes affecting productivity<br><br>Operational Assessment & Improvements<br><br>Conduct a top-to-bottom review of existing back-of-house operations<br><br>Offer strategic recommendations based on experience running or managing cafés/restaurants<br><br>Identify quick wins and long-term improvements for sustainability and profitability<br><br>Financial Insights (as applicable)<br><br>Evaluate cost-saving opportunities<br><br>Help leadership understand cost drivers (inventory, labor, waste)<br><br>Support simple KPI tracking or reporting as needed<br><br>Ideal Candidate<br><br>Has owned, operated, or managed a café, restaurant, or similar foodservice business<br><br>Strong understanding of inventory, scheduling, vendor relationships, and back-end systems<br><br>Organized and solution-oriented, with a coach’s mindset<br><br>Comfortable working independently and advising a small team<br><br>Familiar with nonprofit or mission-based business models (a plus, not required)<br><br>Contract Details:<br><br>This is a short-term, project-based contract for the next 2–3 months<br><br>Flexible schedule; some on-site time required, but hours are adaptable<br><br>Compensation is hourly or flat rate depending on experience and availability<br><br>Opportunity to extend or consult longer-term if mutually agreed upon
