  • <p>A Spokane-based nonprofit is seeking an experienced interim Senior Accountant or Controller to join on an interim basis. This role requires someone with a strong understanding of foundational accounting (especially debits vs. credits) and the ability to step in quickly to manage core accounting responsibilities with accuracy, independence, and minimal ramp‑up. This is an on-site opportunity approximately 32 hours per week. </p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Perform <strong>month-end close</strong> from start to finish, including:</li><li>Journal entries</li><li>Accruals and amortizations</li><li>Prepaid schedules</li><li>Fixed asset schedules</li><li>Deferred revenue GLs</li><li>Complete and clean up <strong>complex reconciliations</strong> across the general ledger.</li><li>Conduct GL cleanup: identify errors, correct entries, and ensure accounts reflect accurate activity.</li><li>Apply strong knowledge of <strong>foundational accounting</strong> — especially understanding <strong>debits vs. credits</strong> and what <em>should have</em> occurred in the financials.</li><li>Work through established close schedules and supporting documentation with light instructions.</li><li>Independently understand accounting logic, complete tasks, and bring forward questions or exceptions as needed.</li><li>Reduce workload for the Accounting Director by taking on senior-level tasks and backlog cleanup.</li></ul><p><br></p>
