Responsibilities include drafting pleadings, discovery, and correspondence; assisting attorneys with deposition preparation and other discovery requests, preparing for client meetings, document productions, depositions, hearings and trials. Additional duties include routine handling of correspondence; and maintaining an electronic case management system to ensure all deadlines are met for assigned cases. Our client prefers candidates with a Bachelor's Degree and 5 plus years of complex commercial litigation paralegal experience from within a law firm setting. Experience should also include prior trial attendance and preparation for trial, case organization and management, calendaring, and excellence in performing all traditional paralegal activities related to bringing mid- to large-scale commercial litigation matters to trial. The litigation group utilizes Relativity and e-discovery programs including technology-assisted review and predictive coding. As such, the successful candidate will have experience with these, or similar, programs. In addition, the paralegal should possess the ability to work as part of a team with attorneys, paralegals, and secretaries and/or to work independently with little supervision; hold strong interpersonal communication skills; have the ability to follow through on multiple projects while continuing to be detail oriented; and be flexible to work overtime and under the pressure of deadlines as necessary. Minimum 8+ years of domestic and foreign patent prosecution experience required. </p><p>Knowledge of USPTO systems and processes</p><p>Knowledge of patent preparation and prosecution</p><p>This position supports attorneys in a wide range of IP services, including trademarks, copyrights and licenses, and patents including, but not limited to, portfolio development, trademark disputes, patent prosecution, marketplace enforcement, and IP transactions. This position performs both US and foreign patent services. The Patent Paralegal will main a working knowledge of foreign trademark and patent law; prepare patent filing documents, shells, correspondence, etc. relating to USPTO, foreign offices, and foreign associates on patent matters; prepare basic U.S., provisional, non-provisional, convention and design application documents, including transmittals, and IP docketing for timely reporting of communications to the client and foreign associates. This position will require the patent paralegal to review dockets and complaints for active patents and trademarks; timely handling of various prosecution formalities, reviews and analysis of IP search reports, determining status and ownership of properties. 5 plus years of USPTO and PCT filings experience is required for this position.
