We are looking for an experienced Controller to oversee critical financial operations within our organization located in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. This Contract to permanent position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who thrives in a dynamic environment and is eager to contribute to the strategic financial management of a mission-driven organization. The role involves managing accounting processes, financial reporting, and compliance with nonprofit standards while providing valuable insights to support organizational goals.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Manage the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing processes.<br>• Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements and reports to stakeholders.<br>• Ensure compliance with nonprofit-specific regulations and accounting standards.<br>• Oversee cash flow management, fixed asset accounting, bank reconciliations, and audit preparation.<br>• Administer payroll processes and coordinate benefit updates in collaboration with HR.<br>• Maintain and optimize accounting systems, including Abila MIP Fund Accounting, and create custom financial reports.<br>• Prepare and file required forms, such as 1096 and state-level claims, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.<br>• Coordinate financial audits and address external compliance inquiries effectively.<br>• Support budgeting, forecasting, and investment reporting efforts to align with organizational objectives.<br>• Supervise and mentor accounting team members while contributing to cross-functional training initiatives.
