We are looking for a skilled Controller to join our client's team on a contract basis in Salem, Oregon. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial processes, with a focus on journal entries, reconciliations, and grant accounting. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong attention to detail and a background in nonprofit accounting. Responsibilities:• Review and analyze journal entries to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.• Examine account reconciliations prepared by the senior accountant, identifying and resolving discrepancies.• Oversee grant accounting processes, ensuring proper allocation and compliance with funding guidelines.• Manage month-end close procedures, including the preparation of necessary financial reports.• Monitor and maintain balance sheet accounts, ensuring they are reconciled and up-to-date.• Collaborate with internal teams to address financial discrepancies and implement corrective actions.• Provide support and guidance to accounting staff as needed to enhance team performance.• Ensure adherence to nonprofit accounting standards and best practices.• Assist in preparing for audits by organizing financial documents and addressing auditor inquiries.

• Proven experience in reviewing journal entries and identifying accounting errors. • Strong background in balance sheet account reconciliation and financial accuracy. • Familiarity with nonprofit accounting, including grant management and compliance. • Proficiency in month-end close processes and financial reporting. • Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and problem-solving. • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment. • Knowledge of healthcare accounting is a plus but not required. • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
