We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team in Portland, Oregon on a contract basis. This role requires an experienced and detail-oriented individual with a strong background in corporate accounting and financial management, particularly within project-based industries such as engineering or construction. The ideal candidate will bring leadership expertise and the ability to oversee complex financial processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Lead monthly and quarterly financial close processes, ensuring all reporting is completed accurately and on time.<br>• Manage and oversee accrual-based accounting for multiple entities, providing detailed financial reports across various levels.<br>• Supervise and mentor a team, including training and preparing an Assistant Controller for future responsibilities.<br>• Handle complex financial transactions, year-end budgeting, and ad hoc financial requests.<br>• Ensure compliance with all accounting standards and regulations within the detail-oriented services or construction industries.<br>• Develop and implement best practices for financial reporting and operational efficiency.<br>• Collaborate with stakeholders to provide insights on financial performance and forecasts.<br>• Review and approve financial statements, ensuring they align with organizational goals and industry standards.<br>• Address multi-site financial management challenges, delivering solutions tailored to each entity&#39;s needs.<br>• Support project-based accounting initiatives tied to engineering and construction projects.

• Minimum of 12 years of experience in accounting and financial management, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.<br>• Expertise in corporate accounting, particularly accrual-based accounting and financial statement preparation.<br>• Proven ability to manage multi-entity financial reporting and complex transactions.<br>• Familiarity with project-based industries such as engineering, construction, or detail-oriented services.<br>• Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with experience training team members for advanced roles.<br>• Ability to handle year-end budgeting, financial forecasting, and ad hoc financial tasks.<br>• Experience with month-end close processes and delivering accurate financial reports.<br>• Knowledge of accounting standards and regulations related to multi-site operations in the engineering or construction sectors.
