						<p><strong>Robert Half Permanent Placement</strong> is excited to partner with an innovative Steel Fabricator in <strong>Olean, NY</strong> on their search for a <strong>Purchasing Manager.</strong> This is a <strong>Direct Hire in-office role with a starting salary of $120,000 - $130,000 </strong>and a comprehensive benefits package. This role focuses on the procurement and sourcing of steel and related materials. The ideal candidate will display a savvy understanding of both industry and suppliers and will also be responsible for procurement of consumables, tools, equipment, and other items critical to steel fabrication.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Responsibilities include but not limited to:</strong></p><p> </p><ul><li>Oversee procurement of steel, materials, consumables, tools, and equipment to support fabrication and production operations</li><li>Develop and implement strategic purchasing plans to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality acquisitions</li><li>Source, evaluate, and select reliable suppliers while negotiating contracts, pricing, and delivery terms to optimize value</li><li>Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, conducting regular performance reviews focused on quality, reliability, and responsiveness</li><li>Collaborate with accounting, production, engineering, and project management teams to align purchasing activities with operational and financial goals</li><li>Manage and mentor the purchasing department, fostering professional development and operational efficiency</li><li>Monitor inventory levels to balance production needs, minimize carrying costs, and prevent stock shortages</li><li>Track market trends, ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and ethical sourcing standards, and drive continuous improvement in procurement performance</li></ul><p><br></p>
					
					
						<ul><li><strong>Minimum 5 years of experience as a Purchasing Manager within the steel fabrication industry required</strong></li><li>Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field required</li><li>Strong knowledge of steel materials, manufacturing processes, and ability to interpret technical drawings</li><li>Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and advanced Excel</li><li>Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment</li><li>Analytical and data-driven decision-maker with knowledge of compliance standards; CPM or CPSM certification preferred</li></ul><p><br></p>
