Senior Software Engineer
<p>Robert Half is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with AI‑enabled development experience to support the modernization of a real-time, high-availability air traffic management platform. This role offers the opportunity to work on safety-critical systems that directly support national airspace operations in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.</p><p>You will contribute to the development and sustainment of complex software systems using both traditional systems engineering practices and AI‑augmented development techniques throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).</p><p><br></p><p>Key Responsibilities:</p><ul><li>Design, develop, test, and maintain software for real-time, high-availability systems</li><li>Apply AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, refactoring, debugging, and automated test generation</li><li>Utilize AI responsibly across the full SDLC including:</li><li>Requirements analysis</li><li>System design</li><li>Implementation</li><li>Testing</li><li>Documentation</li><li>Code review</li><li>Analyze complex system requirements and translate them into efficient, maintainable software designs</li><li>Develop and maintain automation scripts across development, test, and production environments</li><li>Promote code quality, reuse, traceability, and cross-team collaboratio</li></ul>
<p>Required Qualifications:</p><p>AI‑Driven Engineering Experience:</p><ul><li>Hands-on experience using AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar) for:</li><li>Code generation and refactoring</li><li>Debugging</li><li>Automated test creation</li><li>IDE-integrated development workflows</li><li>Familiarity with Large Language Model (LLM) platforms such as:</li><li>OpenAI</li><li>Anthropic</li><li>Google Gemini</li><li>Experience designing effective prompts and validating AI-generated output</li><li>Understanding of human-in-the-loop development and responsible AI usage</li><li>Ability to evaluate AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, safety, and bias</li><li>Experience incorporating AI/ML techniques into software engineering workflows</li><li>Experience working with automated testing frameworks</li></ul><p>Core Technical Qualifications:</p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 8+ years of relevant experience</li><li>OR</li><li>Master’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience</li><li>Strong object-oriented programming experience</li><li>Proficiency in C, C++, and/or Ada (Ada preferred)</li><li>Experience developing real-time, multi-threaded systems</li><li>Familiarity with Linux environments (Red Hat preferred), virtual machines, and hypervisors</li><li>Experience with low-level communications protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, or SCTP</li><li>Experience with hardware or complex system integration</li><li>Experience with source control and configuration management tools</li><li>Strong communication skills and ability to work independently within cross-functional teams</li></ul>
