Permit Technician
<p>Robert Half is seeking a detail-oriented Permit Technician to join our Permit Department and support the intake, tracking, and coordination of utility encroachment permits. This Permit Technician role sits on the administrative side of permitting and serves as a central point of coordination between internal teams and external utility providers.</p><p>The Permit Technician acts as a “shepherd” for incoming permits, ensuring applications are complete, properly routed, and progressing through the review process. This Permit Technician role is a long-term contract role and is onsite role. Part-time is okay if you are onsite Monday-Thursday. </p><p><br></p><p>Key Responsibilities</p><ul><li>Intake, review, and track utility encroachment permit applications</li><li>Serve as a clearinghouse between permitting, CAD, surveying, and engineering teams</li><li>Coordinate with external utility providers</li><li>Review and interpret utility plans and drawings to ensure completeness and accuracy</li><li>Conduct record drawing research and support utility map requests</li><li>Manage permit workflows within the permitting system and ensure timely processing</li><li>Act as a primary point of contact for permit-related communication</li><li>Ensure permit documentation is complete, accurate, and properly logged</li><li>Route technical or engineering-related questions to the appropriate internal resources</li></ul><p><br></p>
<p><strong>Required Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Prior experience in a permitting, utilities, or public works environment</li><li>Familiarity with encroachment permits and utility permitting processes</li><li>Ability to read and interpret utility plans</li><li>Strong organizational, administrative, and follow-up skills</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills</li><li>Comfortable coordinating with outside agencies and utility companies</li></ul><p><strong>Technical Skills</strong></p><ul><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)</li><li>Ability to read and review PDF plan sets</li><li>Experience using Bluebeam for document review and markup</li></ul><p><strong>Nice to Have</strong></p><ul><li>Municipal or county permit department experience</li><li>Prior utility permitting experience (telecom preferred)</li><li>Experience coordinating with CAD, surveying, or engineering teams (non-technical)</li></ul><p><br></p>
