Apply today!</p><p><br></p><p>Job Details</p><ul><li><strong>Schedule:</strong> Standard business hours (Pacific preferred, flexible across U.S. time zones)</li><li><strong>Duration:</strong> 6 months (contract, with potential to extend/convert)</li><li><strong>Location:</strong> Remote – U.S. only</li></ul><p>Job Responsibilities</p><ul><li>Design, develop, and deliver a robust document management system (DMS) deployed on AWS.</li><li>Build and optimize document processing pipelines, storage systems (search indexing, object key strategy, metadata schemas, lifecycle/retention, batch processing).</li><li>Contribute to backend architecture decisions: microservices, API contracts, event handling, datastore design, security, and access control.</li><li>Partner with product owners, architects, and analysts to translate business requirements into scalable backend solutions.</li><li>Manage the full software lifecycle—development, CI/CD, infrastructure, and deployment.</li><li>Ensure scalability, performance optimization, and proactive management of technical debt.</li><li>Support compliance in regulated environments (HIPAA, PCI, insurance/financial data).</li></ul>

<ul><li>3+ years backend engineering experience with strong focus on data/database engineering.</li><li>2+ years designing, implementing, or maintaining document management systems (cloud-native preferred).</li><li>Proficiency in backend languages/frameworks with cloud SDK support (Node/TypeScript, NestJS, Java, Python).</li><li>Experience with event-driven architectures, REST APIs, JSON schemas.</li><li>Familiarity with search optimization, batch processing, metadata-driven organization, and retention policies.</li><li>Hands-on cloud experience (AWS strongly preferred; OCR service exposure a plus).</li><li>Strong Agile background, comfortable delivering in iterative environments.</li><li>Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.</li></ul>
