Staff Accountant
We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Burnaby, British Columbia. This position will focus on managing high volumes of personal tax returns during tax season, with responsibilities extending to corporate tax filings as needed. The role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable working with both digital and physical documentation.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Prepare and process T1 personal tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax regulations.<br>• Handle data entry for tax-related documents, including receipts, bank statements, and investment records.<br>• Utilize CaseWare software to generate financial statements and complete notice-to-reader engagements.<br>• Conduct compilations and bank reconciliations to prepare trial balances for clients.<br>• Manage tax-related tasks for clients in various industries, such as those in the medical field and investors.<br>• Scan and organize physical and digital documents to streamline workflow.<br>• Collaborate with team members to clarify tax deductions and ensure compliance with policies.<br>• Support corporate tax filings as required, including working with T4, T5, and T3 forms.<br>• Provide assistance with rental property and capital gains tax calculations.<br>• Maintain effective communication to address tax-related inquiries and ensure smooth processes.
• Minimum of one tax season experience, particularly with T1 personal tax returns.<br>• Proficiency in CaseWare software and other tax preparation tools.<br>• Strong understanding of tax regulations and deductible expenses.<br>• Familiarity with investment tax reporting is an asset.<br>• Ability to manage high volumes of data entry with precision and efficiency.<br>• Excellent organizational and analytical skills to handle diverse tax scenarios.<br>• Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and supervisors.<br>• A background in public accounting or tax preparation is preferred.
