Business Unit Controller
<p><strong>Interim Business Unit Controller</strong></p><p><strong>Location:</strong> Toronto or Etobicoke, ON</p><p><strong>Work Model:</strong> Hybrid – 2 days onsite</p><p><strong>Term:</strong> 6-month contract</p><p>            </p><p><strong>Position Overview</strong></p><p>Our client, a technology organization, is seeking an experienced <strong>Interim Business Unit Controller </strong>to support one of its core business units on an interim basis. This role will take ownership of accounting activities for a specific line of business and provide leadership across close, reporting, revenue recognition, indirect tax, and day-to-day accounting operations.</p><p>This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on finance leader with strong IFRS knowledge, solid operational accounting experience, and the ability to work closely with both finance and business stakeholders in a dynamic, evolving environment.</p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Lead accounting operations for a business unit, including oversight of general ledger activities, payables, receivables, invoicing, and close processes</li><li>Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close requirements, including balance sheet reviews, journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis</li><li>Apply IFRS guidance to technical accounting matters, including revenue recognition across multiple product and service offerings</li><li>Oversee reporting deliverables and provide financial information to support business and finance leadership</li><li>Support indirect tax coordination and ensure compliance with applicable reporting requirements</li><li>Partner with FP&amp;A and operational stakeholders to improve visibility into revenue, billing, and business performance</li><li>Lead, coach, and support a team of both direct and indirect reports</li><li>Drive process enhancements, strengthen internal controls, and support ongoing finance improvement initiatives</li><li>Assist with audit support and other ad hoc projects as needed</li></ul>
<p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>CPA designation preferred, open to other designation or significant hands-on experience. </li><li>Strong IFRS expertise</li><li>6+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience</li><li>Prior leadership experience across core accounting functions, including close, reporting, AP, AR, and tax</li><li>Experience in a Controller or similar finance leadership capacity</li><li>Background in Technology, fintech, SaaS, or recurring revenue environments is strongly preferred</li><li>Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP Business One, Workday, or Sage Intacct</li><li>Strong Excel and analytical skills</li><li>Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment</li></ul><p><strong>Interested?</strong></p><p>If this opportunity aligns with your background, please apply or reach out directly for more information or a confidential discussion.</p>
