We are looking for a skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Ottawa, Ontario. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring accurate and compliant payroll processing for unionized employees across multiple provinces. This position offers the opportunity to apply your expertise in payroll systems and tax accounting within the construction industry. Responsibilities: • Process weekly payroll for approximately 100 hourly employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with union agreements. • Manage timekeeping processes, including uploading and verifying timesheets. • Handle payroll across multiple provinces, adhering to provincial tax laws and regulations. • Coordinate with four unions to ensure proper payroll calculations and benefit distributions. • Reconcile payroll accounts to maintain accuracy and resolve discrepancies. • Prepare and submit remittances for government agencies and other third parties. • Utilize payroll systems such as ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian, and Dayforce to streamline operations. • Collaborate with HR and accounting teams to address payroll-related inquiries and issues. • Maintain detailed records to support audits and comply with legal requirements.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll, with a focus on unionized environments. • Proficiency in payroll systems such as ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian, or Dayforce. • Strong understanding of provincial tax laws and payroll regulations across multiple provinces. • Experience managing payroll for unionized employees and working with collective agreements. • Proven ability to reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies effectively. • Familiarity with benefit and tax accounting processes. • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. • Strong communication skills to liaise with unions, employees, and internal teams.
