Controller
<p>Robert Half is working with a client that is seeking a Controller to lead accounting and financial reporting for its manufacturing or construction operations. This role will oversee month-end close, budgeting and forecasting, cost accounting, inventory and work-in-progress valuation, job costing, margin analysis, and internal controls. The Controller will also partner closely with operations leaders to support profitability, cost management, and better business decision-making.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>Month-End Close and Financial Reporting</strong></p><ul><li>Lead the monthly close process, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and adjusting entries</li><li>Review financial statements, analyze variances against budget and prior year, and investigate discrepancies</li><li>Prepare monthly reporting packages and supporting schedules for leadership</li><li>Maintain accurate account reconciliations and audit-ready documentation</li><li>Identify ways to improve reporting processes, controls, and overall efficiency</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Budgeting and Forecasting</strong></p><ul><li>Lead the annual budget process and quarterly reforecasts</li><li>Partner with operations to develop revenue, margin, labor, overhead, and equipment budgets</li><li>Review assumptions, assess risks and opportunities, and improve forecasting accuracy</li><li>Ensure submissions meet corporate timelines and reporting requirements</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Operational Finance Support</strong></p><ul><li>Provide guidance to operations and administrative teams on accounting and coding matters</li><li>Partner with operations managers to understand business performance and challenges</li><li>Deliver financial analysis to support production efficiency, cost control, pricing, and investment decisions</li><li>Help identify cost-saving and process improvement opportunities</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Inventory and Pricing</strong></p><ul><li>Monitor inventory levels, turnover, and accuracy</li><li>Review inventory variances and explain adjustments</li><li>Support pricing reviews and evaluate the financial impact of price changes, discounts, rebates, and promotions</li></ul><p> </p><p><br></p><p> </p>
<p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Professional accounting designation, or currently working toward one</li><li>5+ years of experience in a Controller or similar leadership role</li><li>Manufacturing or construction industry experience strongly preferred</li><li>Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel</li><li>Solid analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills</li><li>Ability to travel occasionally to divisions and project sites</li></ul><p><br></p>
