- We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to support and strengthen a large-scale backup environment in Utah. This contract position is ideal for someone who is detail oriented and can bring structure, stability, and technical leadership to day-to-day backup operations while improving the overall reliability of data protection services. The role focuses on hands-on administration of Commvault and related enterprise backup technologies, with an emphasis on reducing operational risk through stronger processes, cleaner configurations, and well-maintained documentation.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Oversee the daily administration, monitoring, and support of the existing Commvault backup platform to maintain dependable system performance.<br>• Identify operational weaknesses within the backup environment and implement practical improvements that increase consistency and service reliability.<br>• Review current configurations, policies, and job activity to resolve inefficiencies, strengthen protection coverage, and improve backup success rates.<br>• Create and refine technical documentation, operating procedures, and support guidelines to establish a more organized and sustainable backup practice.<br>• Troubleshoot backup failures, restore issues, and platform-related incidents, driving timely resolution and minimizing disruption to the business.<br>• Partner with internal stakeholders to promote stronger operational standards and provide guidance on enterprise backup best practices.<br>• Assess areas of risk across the data protection environment and recommend corrective actions that improve readiness for future platform changes or migration efforts.<br>• Support compliance-focused backup operations by aligning processes with data protection requirements such as GDPR where applicable.
