The ideal candidate for the Senior Accountant role would be responsible for preparing the financial statements, maintaining the general ledger accounts, reconciling bank statements, assisting with month end close, performing journal entries and assisting with other projects. We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support key accounting activities in Alexandria, Virginia in a Contract position. This role will play an important part in maintaining accurate financial records, strengthening day-to-day cash and revenue reporting, and preparing the organization for year-end deliverables and a major annual meeting. The position is expected to average 35 hours per week. Responsibilities:• Oversee daily cash receipt activity and ensure incoming funds are recorded accurately and on time.• Maintain ownership of receivables and revenue-related accounts, resolving discrepancies and keeping balances current.• Prepare and review monthly general ledger reconciliations with a focus on accuracy, completeness, and timely follow-up.• Monitor balance sheet and profit and loss accounts to identify unusual activity and support reliable financial reporting.• Post journal entries and assist with month-end close tasks to help keep the accounting cycle on schedule.• Complete bank reconciliations and investigate variances to ensure alignment between financial records and banking activity.• Use Excel to analyze account activity, organize financial data, and support reporting needs for leadership.• Contribute to year-end reporting preparation and provide accounting support tied to upcoming organizational deadlines.• Collaborate with a primarily virtual team while remaining available for occasional in-office coordination in Alexandria, Virginia as needed

Key Duties: • Oversee day to day accounting operations and project accounting for their new state of the art renewable energy project• Responsible for project level ledger activity, revenue and cost accounting as well as hours tracking utilizing Sage Intacct• Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, project costing and general ledger activities as it relates to the project• Work closely with the corporate level accounting team regarding overall financial and revenue reporting • Assist with month-end close and financial reporting including intercompany accounting• Help to transition accounting processes from the parent organization and identify opportunities for continued improvement• Assist external relationships with audit and tax providers• Help implement and optimize accounting systems and workflows, including Sage Intacct• File federal, state and local reports as necessary relating to the project• Assist with working with outside firms covering audit and outsourced tax• Support the project finance team regarding budgets, financial models and reporting Your base pay will depend on your skills, experience and training, knowledge, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
