We are looking for an experienced Director of Finance to support a client in East Hartford, Connecticut on a 12-month Contract engagement. This role will lead core accounting and financial operations while also guiding planning activities such as budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis. The ideal candidate brings strong controllership capability, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to translate financial data into practical business insight. Responsibilities: • Direct daily accounting and finance activities to ensure accurate, timely, and well-controlled financial operations. • Lead the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial models that support short-term decisions and longer-range planning. • Produce meaningful financial reports and analysis for leadership, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities. • Oversee key controllership functions, including month-end activities, account review, and adherence to sound accounting practices. • Partner with banking contacts and internal stakeholders to support cash management and broader financial needs. • Use advanced Microsoft Excel to analyze complex data, develop reporting tools, and improve visibility into business performance. • Provide strategic financial guidance to help leaders evaluate priorities, resource allocation, and operational results. • Contribute to process improvements across finance and accounting to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and reporting quality.

As the company grows this role will evolve to CFO for the right person. This is a unique role as the role that has less core accounting responsibilities and more budget preparation and analysis, acquisition analysis and implementing process improvements. The organization has the financial backing for more acquisitions and is actively seeking them. Responsibilities include oversight of staff responsible for AR, AP, Payroll, month end close and financial reporting. Core responsibilities include budget preparation and analysis, analysis of potential acquisitions, quarterly internal reporting and assessing and implementing improvements to accounting policies, procedures and internal controls. Minimum requirements include a BS in Accounting, strong month end close experience including generally ledger reconciliation and monthly GAAP reporting, commercial or multi-family real estate experience, experience or ability to provide strategic advice and experience assessing and implementing improvements to accounting policies, internal controls, willingness to expand utilization of their ERP system and strong analysis experience. Base salary range of $140,000 - $170,000 plus bonus will depend on experience.
