This is an opportunity to collaborate with attorneys and clients to support patent portfolios in a fast-paced, detail-oriented services environment.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p>• Manage and maintain U.S. and international patent prosecution dockets to ensure all deadlines are met and tasks are completed accurately.</p><p>• Draft original correspondence to clients regarding U.S. and foreign patent prosecution updates and events.</p><p>• Collaborate with attorneys to handle patent portfolios, ensuring the accuracy of files and compliance with docket deadlines.</p><p>• Prepare and file patent prosecution documents, including applications, formalities, and examination-related materials, under attorney supervision.</p><p>• Create and manage information disclosure statement databases within the IP docket management system.</p><p>• Utilize online patent systems to monitor application statuses and retrieve relevant documentation.</p><p>• Communicate directly with clients, under attorney guidance, regarding routine or procedural patent prosecution matters.</p><p>• Ensure compliance with requirements as specified by clients.</p><p>• Work proficiently with docket management and document management systems to maintain organized and accessible records.</p>
Responsibilities:<br>• Establishes and maintains patent files: opens files, prepares documents for filing including, patent applications, Preliminary Amendments, Information Disclosure Statements, Responses to Missing Parts, Assignments, Amendments, payments of Issue Fees, etc.<br>• Reviews all incoming correspondence from U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and foreign associates for essential docketing.<br>• Maintain clients’ portfolios by being proactive in facilitating communication between attorney and client.<br>• Maintains and updates docketing log spreadsheet.<br>• On-going verbal and written communication with attorneys, clients and foreign associates. <br>• Other administrative tasks and projects as may be assigned.<br>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:<br>• BA degree and/or paralegal certificate or minimum of 5 years experience in U.S. patent prosecution. <br>• Familiarity with electronic case management systems and USPTO rules and requirements. IPFolio, Memotech, etc. is a plus.<br>• Familiarity with the prosecution of U.S. Trademark applications a plus.<br>• Ability to work comfortably with advanced computer software (after training) and effectively use and maintain a computer database. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) required. Possible use of speech-to-text transcription software.<br>• Ability to work independently and meet critical deadlines under supervision of attorney.<br>• Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints.<br>• Ability to concentrate on detailed work for up to 80% of work day. <br>• Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate and follow instructions from a diverse group, including clients, attorneys and others, and to provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact.<br>• High level of responsibility, dedication and accuracy required.<br>• Work on rare occasions requires more than 37.5 hours per week to perform essential duties of the job; may occasionally require irregular hours. <br>• Regular attendance at work.
5+ years of experience in corporate legal roles or law firms, with particular expertise in construction contract review/negotiation or construction litigation<br>Familiarity with FAR, GSAR, and other relevant agency acquisition regulations, including procurement and bidding processes<br>Experience with construction-related insurance and surety (e.g., Builders’ Risk Insurance, Subcontractor Default Insurance, Surety Bonds, and Controlled Insurance Programs)<br>Specialized knowledge of construction projects funded by federal and state government contracts<br>Proficiency with standard construction industry contracts (e.g., AIA, ConsensusDocs) and a strong understanding of construction activities<br>Experience navigating government contracting processes and compliance (e.g., contract negotiations, performance tracking, documentation, and notice requirements for public projects)<br>Familiarity with insurance-related matters like claims and construction defect cases<br>Skills and Competencies:<br><br>Advanced contract drafting, negotiation, and written/oral communication skills<br>Strong critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and organizational skills<br>Business acumen and the ability to offer sound judgment under pressure<br>Attention to detail with a results-driven mindset<br>Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive, confidential information discreetly<br>Adaptability to work on shifting priorities and take on new responsibilities when needed<br>Knowledge or experience with machine learning technology is a plus<br>Comfortable collaborating with construction professionals to gather industry insights
