Payroll Supervisor
<p>Robert Half is partnering with a well‑established organization in Tacoma to identify an experienced Payroll Supervisor for a contract engagement. This role is ideal for a payroll professional who brings strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to manage high‑volume, multi‑state payroll in a fast‑paced environment.</p><p>Key Responsibilities</p><ul><li>Oversee end‑to‑end payroll processing for a multi‑state employee population, ensuring accuracy and compliance.</li><li>Supervise payroll staff and provide guidance, training, and performance support.</li><li>Review and audit payroll for accuracy in earnings, deductions, taxes, and garnishments.</li><li>Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and internal policies.</li><li>Partner with HR, Finance, and department leaders to resolve payroll issues efficiently.</li><li>Manage payroll reporting, reconciliations, quarter‑end and year‑end processes (W‑2s, 941s, etc.).</li><li>Support payroll system enhancements, testing, and process‑improvement initiatives.</li><li>Provide documentation and support for internal and external audits.</li></ul><p><br></p>
<p>4–6+ years of payroll experience, including supervisory or lead responsibilities.</p><p>Experience with high‑volume or multi‑state payroll; prior work in healthcare or large‑scale environments a plus.</p><p>Strong understanding of payroll regulations, wage laws, and compliance requirements.</p><p>Proficiency with payroll systems such as ADP Workforce Now, UKG, Workday, or similar platforms.</p><p>Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data validation).</p><p>Strong communication skills, leadership presence, and ability to solve complex payroll issues.</p>
