<p><strong>Job Title:</strong> Chief Financial Officer (CFO)</p><p><strong>Location:</strong> Stratford, CT <strong><em>(Hybrid / minimum 1 day in office</em></strong>)</p><p><strong>Position Type:</strong> Full-Time / Permanent</p><p><strong>Recruiter Contact:</strong> Abby Harpp – abby.harpp@roberthalf</p><p><strong>Job Reference:</strong> AH0013339428</p><p> </p><p>We’re partnering with a mission-driven environmental nonprofit that drives meaningful impact through science, advocacy, litigation, restoration projects, and community engagement. They are seeking a <strong>Chief Financial Officer (CFO)</strong> to lead all financial strategy, operations, and compliance while serving as a key member of the executive leadership team.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Main Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Lead all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, audits, tax filings, and internal controls</li><li>Partner with the President and Board to develop annual budgets, financial goals, and long-term financial strategy</li><li>Provide timely, actionable financial analysis; assess organizational risks/opportunities; develop scenario models aligned to strategic plans</li><li>Ensure full compliance with private, state, and federal grant requirements, including expenditures, drawdowns, and reporting</li><li>Oversee cash flow, banking relationships, financial transactions, and monthly budget-to-actual reporting</li><li>Manage all accounting functions (GL, AP/AR, payroll, reconciliations) and ensure strong internal controls</li><li>Maintain accurate tracking and reporting of restricted and unrestricted assets</li><li>Lead annual external audit preparation and serve as primary liaison for auditors</li></ul>

<p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred</li><li>2+ years in a CFO or senior finance leadership role with oversight of budgeting, reporting, and strategic financial management</li><li>5+ years of nonprofit experience, including significant federal and state grant funding</li><li>Experience with environmental, advocacy, or mission-driven organizations is a plus</li></ul><p><strong><em>If you meet the minimum requirements and want to learn more, please email your resume to the address above and reference AH0013339428.</em></strong></p><p><strong><em>All inquiries are confidential.
