Controller
<p>We are looking for an experienced Controller to support financial operations for a Contract position based in Marlborough, Massachusetts. This role will oversee core accounting activities, guide close and reporting efforts, and help maintain strong financial accuracy across the organization. The ideal candidate brings hands-on leadership, sound technical accounting knowledge, and the ability to manage reconciliations, reporting, and team oversight in a fast-paced environment.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p>• Direct daily accounting operations while supervising a small team of staff accountants to ensure timely and accurate execution of work.</p><p>• Review and manage credit-related documentation and account records to maintain accuracy, completeness, and proper follow-up.</p><p>• Respond to account and finance-related questions promptly, resolving issues efficiently and escalating concerns when appropriate.</p><p>• Partner with the accounting team to complete month-end close activities and support the preparation of reliable financial results.</p><p>• Prepare and deliver financial reporting packages to leadership within established timelines.</p><p>• Perform and oversee balance sheet and bank reconciliations, investigating discrepancies and ensuring proper resolution.</p><p>• Monitor customer accounts on an ongoing basis and take corrective action as needed to address exceptions or outstanding matters.</p><p>• Use accounting systems, including Great Plains and related financial software, to manage transactions, reporting, and controls.</p><p>• Provide leadership coverage and decision support when the primary controller is unavailable.</p><p>• Support audit readiness and budgeting activities by organizing financial data, reviewing variances, and maintaining documentation.</p>
• Proven experience in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role.<br>• Strong knowledge of accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting functions.<br>• Hands-on experience with balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and trial balance review.<br>• Background in financial auditing processes and budget preparation or oversight.<br>• Ability to lead and coordinate the work of accounting staff while maintaining high standards of accuracy.<br>• Experience supporting month-end close and preparing financial reports for ownership or executive leadership.<br>• Proficiency with accounting software such as Great Plains and other financial management systems.
