Java Developer III
Job Description Under the direction of the Manager and Technical Lead, this role helps drive the design, development, testing, and implementation of Java/J2EE applications. The developer will work with middleware technologies, databases, and integration services, creating detailed technical specifications and delivering high‑quality solutions. This position operates with a high level of independence and provides leadership to entry level developers.
Primary Responsibilities Lead implementation planning, solution design, configuration, testing, deployment, and post‑implementation support for software initiatives. Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, analyze, validate, and document business and technical requirements. Review and enhance existing programs to improve performance or meet new business needs. Own the troubleshooting and resolution of defects identified during testing; independently resolve issues when necessary. Define detailed technical specifications and translate business needs into actionable development tasks. Lead the development and debugging of applications using Java/J2EE. Build web applications using AJAX, JSON, JavaScript, CSS, HTML5, and related web technologies. Partner with Business Analysts to design and implement database schemas, including keys, constraints, identities, default values, indexes, and triggers. Participate in strategic and business unit planning initiatives. Provide on‑call support for production environments. Develop database‑driven applications using SQL and JDBC. Produce documentation aligned with Sarbanes‑Oxley compliance standards. Mentor and support less experienced developers, providing guidance and resolving technical questions. <br> Job Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent detail oriented experience. Required Experience 5+ years of experience as a Java Developer. Strong understanding of modern software development methodologies and best practices. Expertise with Agile frameworks (Scrum, XP, Kanban). Hands‑on experience with JSP/Servlet containers, Apache, Tomcat, JSP, JSF, Hibernate, Microservices, Spring Boot, REST, SOAP, Web Services, Web Services Security, and TDD using JUnit or similar tools. Proficiency with modern IDEs and Git. Strong background in building web applications and user interfaces with Java technologies (JDBC, JSP, JSF, servlets). Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, and meet deadlines. Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate team members. Strong problem‑solving abilities and a self‑driven mindset. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
