<p>Are you an experienced Controller with a background in nonprofit finance? Our team at Robert Half is partnering with a reputable nonprofit organization in Elizabeth, NJ, seeking a skilled Controller for a contract role expected to last approximately 6 months. This role would be a hybrid onsite schedule in Elizabeth, NJ. Strong experience in nonprofit industry is required.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Oversee all nonprofit accounting functions and maintain accurate financial records</li><li>Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting regulations (e.g., FASB, GAAP, restricted funding, grants)</li><li>Collaborate with leadership on budget preparation, forecasting, grants management, and year-end audit support</li><li>Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements</li><li>Manage and mentor finance staff, supporting day-to-day operations</li><li>Establish and maintain internal controls and accounting policies tailored for nonprofit environments</li><li>Coordinate with external auditors and prepare audit schedules and reports</li></ul>

<p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)</li><li>Nonprofit accounting experience required</li><li>Working knowledge of nonprofit fund accounting, grants management, and compliance standards</li><li>Strong proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar)</li><li>Ability to work onsite in Elizabeth, NJ, three days per week</li><li>Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills</li></ul>
