Our client is looking for a Senior Accountant to join their team in Coquitlam, British Columbia. This is a contract position with the potential for long-term placement and excellent opportunities for growth. The role involves working in a hybrid environment, transitioning from remote work to a mix of in-office and remote days in the coming months. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing accounting functions and ensuring accurate financial reporting. Responsibilities:• Conduct monthly financial close processes, including preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports.• Review and verify general ledger entries for accuracy and compliance.• Analyze financial statements and provide insights on variances compared to budget and prior periods.• Support budgeting and forecasting activities by collaborating with the FP& A team and presenting financial trends and performance metrics.• Interact with external auditors and internal teams to address inquiries and ensure compliance with accounting standards.• Perform research to recommend appropriate accounting treatments for complex transactions.• Develop and enhance processes to improve operational efficiency and ensure proper accounting practices.• Assist in integrating accounting systems and processes for newly acquired entities.• Manage account reconciliations and maintain detailed records within designated areas of responsibility.• Collaborate with management and cross-functional teams to achieve departmental objectives.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or distribution environment. • Proficiency in account reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and bank reconciliations. • Strong knowledge of general ledger management and journal entries. • Experience with month-end close procedures and financial reporting. • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting. • Detail-oriented, with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to ask insightful questions. • Familiarity with managing inventory-related accounting processes. • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and work environments.
