We are looking for an experienced Senior Security Specialist to join our team on a long-term contract basis. In this role, you will focus on designing, implementing, and managing robust security solutions to protect our organization's infrastructure and data. Based in Whitby, Ontario, this opportunity is ideal for someone with a strong background in IT security, governance, and risk management. Responsibilities: • Lead the design and implementation of firewall strategies to protect network perimeters and prevent unauthorized access. • Oversee data loss prevention initiatives by deploying advanced solutions and crafting effective policies and processes. • Develop and manage governance, risk, and compliance frameworks to align cybersecurity measures with regulatory standards. • Conduct thorough threat and risk assessments to evaluate current security infrastructure and recommend improvements. • Create and maintain detailed security documentation, including policies, procedures, and technical guidelines. • Identify and respond to advanced security threats and vulnerabilities in real-time, ensuring operational continuity. • Manage and optimize incident response processes to minimize disruptions and address security events promptly. • Administer and enhance endpoint detection and response tools, such as Microsoft Defender, to mitigate security risks. • Collaborate with IT and security teams to strengthen monitoring and incident reporting capabilities.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in cybersecurity roles, with expertise in governance, risk, and compliance practices. • Demonstrated success in managing enterprise-level firewall and data loss prevention projects. • Hands-on experience with endpoint detection and response tools, such as Microsoft Defender. • Proficiency in creating and operationalizing information security documentation and frameworks. • Strong ability to identify and mitigate risks in high-pressure, dynamic environments. • Practical knowledge of Cisco and Checkpoint technologies, as well as cloud and firewall systems. • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM) are highly desirable.
